Fact: 80% of all civilian fire casualties result from residential fires.
If your residence is equipped with unmonitored smoke detectors, they help prevent loss of life and property when you are present. There is a clear and convincing difference between an unmonitored smoke detector, that only makes a loud noise when smoke is detected, and a monitored smoke detector connected to a standard alarm system, which is ready to call out for assistance in response to a dangerous condition by notifying The Rite Group's Central Monitoring personnel who will rapidly summon first responders (fire safety personnel). The first device just makes a loud noise, and the second device makes a loud noise and rapidly calls for help!
Installation of a monitored smoke detector could save you up to 20% on your homeowners insurance.
The Rite Group recommends installation of monitored smoke detectors that meet or exceed the recommended standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The NFPA recommends installation of a smoke detector, which may be either battery-powered monitored or non-monitored smoke detectors) on every floor of a residence, in the basement, outside every sleeping area, and in every room where people sleep. In addition, NFPA recommends installation of strobe lights, in addition to internal sirens, for people who have hearing impairments. Information may be obtained at www.nfpa.org or by writing to NFPA at 1 Battery March Park, Quincy, MA 02269. You should consult your local fire department or other local authority to determine any legal or regulatory requirements regarding smoke detectors or other fire detection requirements in your local jurisdiction.
